Kirkharle Food and Craft Fayre 25 - 27th October

September 7th -15th

The upstairs room of Kirkharle Coffee House will be transformed into an Aladdin’s Cave with an exciting selling exhibition of Oriental carpets, hand painted furniture, ceramics and jewellery.  This unique collection has been assembled from the nomadic peoples and artisans of Central and Western Asia, from Turkey to India.  From the ornate design of carpets and the bold geometry of tribal rugs, to the rustic charm of roughly carved Indian bowls and block printed textiles, the event promises to be a colourful and entertaining experience for everyone.  The Coffee House is adding to the flavour by having Middle Eastern delicacies and wine on the menu for that week.

Rufus Reade, who founded The Nomads Tent 31 years ago in Edinburgh, will be giving an evening talk entitled A New Road to Mandalay. He will give some of the background history of Burma and through his many slides will show us what Burma has to offer the visitor  today. A charge will be made for this event, with the proceeds going to Marie Curie in Newcastle, a charitable cause with which the Courtyard continues to be associated.
